Film photography
A few years ago, my great uncle gave me a Nikon FM that he had repaired, and since the first roll that I put through it, I have been in love. Now, I shoot both colour and black and white films with a variety of both 35mm and medium format cameras. I have set up Flickr albums for each camera and film to keep as a catalogue of each combination. I use both AG Photo Labs and Analogue Wonderland to buy and develop my film. Although, I scan my own negatives using my Nikon Z6iii. This allows me to have much more creative control over the end result of my image - as well as allowing me to produce a higher quality scan by using the pixel shift settings on the Nikon. In the future, I plan on learning how to develop my own film, starting with black and white, for the same reasons, as well as reducing the overall cost, allowing me to expand my film use and try new experiments. I am currently printing both my digital and film images at home, which is allowing me to learn about different printing techniques and styles to get the best possible results. As part of my film journey, I have been writing articles about both the cameras and films that I have been using for a film blog called 35mmc. You can find my articles through this link: https://www.35mmc.com/author/alastairhphotography/. Doing this has allowed me to connect with other film users and get some tips and tricks to help improve my work.
